DIY- From Drab to Fab With Fresh Paint

April 30, 2013

A few months ago my folks were packing up their home to move to the Carolinas.  I drove up to spend one last evening and pick up a few of my things they had.  On that trip, my mom had a few things set aside to be donated.  Among the donations I found a fabulous wicker bathroom shelf, Mom asked if I wanted and said I could spray paint it any color I wanted. Well, of course I could, I don’t tell people a can of spray paint is a girl’s best friend for nothing.  A fresh coat of paint is the easiest and most economical way to take something from drab to fab.

The shelf was a dull cream with no personality to speak of.  Can you say boring?

I chose Valspar’s Tropical Foliage spray paint.  It is paint and primer in one.  Wicker can be tricky to paint, and it took two cans for full coverage.

I knew I wanted to go with a bright green, taken from a new shower curtain to compliment the other colors in the guest bath.

A while back I found the gorgeous drawer pulls made with a silvered glass.  At the time I bought them, I had no idea what I would use them for.  As the paint dried, I knew the pulls would provide a bit of bling and a welcomed contrast to the finished piece.

So, what do you think?
